What I’m Thankful For as a Parent
In the spirit of thanksgiving, I wanted to take a minute to give a shoutout to all the things I am thankful for. I’m thankful that last night was the first time ever that my son slept straight through from 8pm to 7am. I’m thankful that my husband helps with the bedtime routine every night, I love reading stories to my son as a family. I’m thankful that my husband works two jobs so that I can stay home with our baby, and that he still finds time for us. I’m thankful that he keeps us safe. I’m thankful for naps- even if he only sleeps for 45 minutes, it gives me time to sit down. I’m thankful that I have such a happy, cuddly baby. I’m thankful every time my husband comes home from work safely, because I never know if he will or not. I’m thankful that my son and my husband are healthy.
I’m thankful that my husband likes my cooking, and speaking of which- I’m thankful for my crockpot. I’m thankful that our relationship is so strong. I’m thankful that he is my best friend, and that he can always make me laugh. I’m thankful for his big bear hugs, and when he kisses my forehead. I’m thankful that I can always trust him to make the right decision for our family. I’m thankful that he always makes me feel loved, even when he is far away. Which reminds me; I’m thankful for video chat, text messaging, and phone calls. I’m thankful he’s a mommas boy- because a man will always treat his wife the way he treats his momma. And I’m thankful my son is a mommas boy too.
I’m thankful that my son looks just like his daddy, they are both so handsome. I’m thankful for every time that he touches my face with his tiny baby hands. I’m thankful for when he wraps his little arms around my neck and gives me the cutest little hugs. I’m thankful for his smiles and laughs. I’m thankful when he blows bubbles while I’m trying to feed him- because at least he is not hungry.
I’m thankful for my parents and my in-laws. They are all so supportive. I’m thankful that they are there even when my husband is away. I’m thankful for everything they have given us and that we could always ask for help if needed. I’m thankful for family dinners, and day trips, and sangria night. I’m thankful that they always want to babysit, so we can still have date nights.
I’m not just thankful for these things once a year. I’m thankful everyday and I thank my husband all the time. I thank him for everything he does for us and I thank him for giving me the greatest son is the world.
Happy Thanksgiving!
