Here’s the all honest truth. I had no goals for September. My only goal was to get through life itself. I spent every minute either packing, laying on the couch dealing with exhaustion and morning sickness, or using every last bit of energy to chase around my 1 year old who was loving the disastrous condition our house was in.
My goals were:
- Keep the child from finding the scissors I was just using
- Pack at least one box a day
- Don’t throw up
- Make sure to put the child to sleep by 7:30 so that you can also go to sleep
- Hope I don’t lose too many followers/readers
I don’t even think I touched the computer on more than 2 occasions. I utilized freelance work, and passive income for this month and I was surprised at what I found.
Last month stats:
- UVs: 6,057
- Monthly Page views: 26,273
- Email subscribers: 1,041
- Pinterest: 507
- Facebook: 113
- Twitter: 1 ,354
- Instagram: 1,489
- Income: $239.73
This month I did not post any new posts, I posted one guest post and that was it. I did freelance work and had a post published on Military OneClick and I helped a business friend with her 9/11 newsletter.
I also neglected to document my end of September social media stats. Oct 1st was the day of our move and we were without our computer and very busy! So I’ll jump right into the stats I do have!
September stats:
- UVs: 4,957
- Monthly Pageviews: 19,511
- Email Subscribers: 1,511
So as you can see, all of my stats fell.. However- here is the income breakdown:
- Ad network: $23.00
- Affiliate: $30.37
- Sponsored posts: $50.00 (this was actually from last months IZEA but the payment came in during October)
- Freelance: $130.00
- Direct Sales: $33.00
- Total income: $266.37
My income actually increased from last month!! Not notably, but certainly not bad for spending the majority of my time on the couch and doing almost no work. (Unless of course you count packing/moving/chasing a toddler work.. then yeah I did a lot of work haha!)
Since I don’t have any “what worked” and “what didn’t work” this month, I thought I’d leave you with a little something different.
Income breakdowns are tough to decipher. The reality is unless you are making high amounts each month, payments don’t usually come in each month. For example, each month you see me write about my ad network income, what you don’t know is that I haven’t actually hit the threshold yet which means no actual money (although I’m close, hopefully next month!)
Other sites like IZEA hold the money until a certain date, for me, it was 30 days. So even though I didn’t do the post in September, that’s when I got paid. Other things, like direct sales and freelance work, is pretty much immediate payments. Affiliates are usually delayed as well. SO just because you see someone’s income report, doesn’t mean that’s what they physically got paid that month nor does it usually account for the expenses of their site and services they use.
Next month I will be more focused on growing my affiliate sales and will be talking about the benefits of using spreadsheets (Plus now that my first trimester is over, I’m ready to get back to it!)
