I’m so glad you are here!
Here’s why: I was you! I was exactly where you are right now.
I know you. I really do; you want to save money, you want to earn money doing what you love, and you are madly in love with someone in the military. Right?
See the thing is, a few years ago I was broke.
Like, literally flat broke. I had this beautiful, wonderfully squishy little baby boy and I knew I needed to be home with him. I was home, by myself (because I gave birth while my hubby was in basic) and I was actually less stressed than when I was at nursing job. Not to mention my husband just signed up with the military and I knew there would be traveling involved.
Speaking of my husband, he was starting over too. He went from a pretty decent career as a correctional officer (and patrol officer on the side) to the military– which he loved– but living on solely a low-ranking military salary cut our monthly income by well over half of what we were previously bringing in. And eventually, that cushy bank account dwindled.
And the stress started.
So I did something about it
I didn’t fully give up my job but I was only per diem and there were very little hours. I picked up what hours I could and I looked at my handsome man each time I had to leave and I promised him that one day momma would find a way to stay home with him and play with him every day.
By the time my second child was born (less than two years later) I fulfilled my promise.
I knew if I wanted to be home with my son I needed to cut our expenses, start us on a budget, find extra ways to save money using our resources, and the key– MAKE MORE MONEY (from home, or wherever we live).
I knew nothing about any of those things and now I’m hooked.
I love that I cut our monthly expenses in half. Now, anything extra we make is literally just extra money to pay off our debt and work towards a debt-free life (or put in the PCS fund, Christmas fund, Vacation fund, or just spoiling our kiddos).
I love that I won’t have to go to public health or a food pantry ever again just to get food for my kids. I don’t want to ever do that again, and I don’t want you to have to do that either.
If you’ve been there, you know it’s not a good feeling.
There are a ton of struggling military families
I was a little surprised to find out that I was NOT alone. Not only are military spouses facing up to 26% unemployment rate due to PCSing and other military life factors, but there are also approximately 620,000 military families that seek assistance just to feed their families.

I fell in love with helping other military spouses face these challenges.
Every day is a new day, a new chance to turn things around. So what are you waiting for?
Here’s what this site is about
There are three main parts of this site:
- Boots– Everything military life! Military life has tons of challenges, there are solutions to make your life a little easier.
- Budgets– This is where we talk about setting up budgets, sticking to budgets, cutting expenses, using military resources to save money, and more.
- Business– We all know the best way to have more money is to make more money. But the cool thing is that there is a way you can stay home with your babies, do what you are passionate about, and have a PCS proof career. Work from home, work from anywhere. I will show you how to get started, how to afford it, and how to succeed.
So if that all sounds like something that might help you out, I want you to stick around!!
Get social
The first step is to sign up to our free 10-day military savings e-course (below) and get started with saving money on EVERY aspect of military life from PCSing, kids, insurance, deployments, etc. We will also walk you through setting up a budget and give you some info on working from home. The course comes with 9 free printables, worksheets, and checklists that you can use over and over.
The second step is to join our facebook group for Military Families Saving Money! We are in this together and I want a place for us all to support each other, ask questions, and share resources. I manually approve each individual request for the closed group so please be patient and make sure to answer the prompted question (I do my best to make sure only people associated with military life are accepted, for our safety)
Lastly, get social! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest (we share awesome stuff about saving money, making money, and military life)
So what are you waiting for?
Like I said; I’ve been there. I have spent more time struggling, crying, and being stressed out then I care to admit. I’ve been there when I let my car go without an oil change for a little “longer than recommended” because I couldn’t afford it and maybe I could make it to Veterans Day and get a free one.
I’ve been there. Calling my husband while he was at work to tell him that by no means is he to touch the debit card until we get paid. Because we will overdraft.
I’ve been there. In tears on the phone with the student loan people, saying “but I’m trying not to let this go, I’m trying to stay ahead, I’m asking for help! You’re telling me that no one can help me?”
And now, now I can give my kid the birthday party he deserves. I can work towards paying off our debt without even touching my husbands paycheck. We can go grocery shopping when we need food, instead of putting it off and just making sure our son had food.
And best of all, I can stay home with my son and my daughter and make money doing it.
Ok so my hair is a little crazy and most days I look forward to the chance to shower but hey, I don’t have to leave the house if I don’t want to– right?

You can do this!
